Our Story

Hello, I'm Jade, Head of Nurture Nova and Designated Safeguarding Lead. I am an experienced AP and inclusion leader working with excluded and at-risk pupils for over 13 years. Here's a little about me:

I am deeply committed to giving children and young people the nurture, stability and high expectations they need to build a brighter future.

During a decade at Sheffield's Pupil Referral unit (SIC) I built and grew four PRU sites, oversaw PSHE - driving a significant rise in pupil qualifications from 11-87 in my first year as lead.

I later moved into exclusion prevention, heading Sheffield Council’s Exclusion and Prevention AP Service under SIC. In this role I oversaw four specialist sites (KS1, KS2 & EAL) and personally led the KS3 Hive, supporting some of the city’s most vulnerable and at‑risk young people.

I saw the same pattern repeatedly: pupils weren’t disengaging because they lacked ability, but because they lacked the right support at the right time. Too many young people were left without a pathway back into education.

I created Nurture Nova to change that.

Our Mission & Ethos

Our mission is to reduce exclusions, restore belonging, and create sustainable pathways back into education.

Our team is committed to providing a space where pupils can stabilise, re‑engage, and make meaningful academic progress. Pupils return to school more confident, more regulated, and more ready to learn.

Our ethos is that every behaviour communicates a need and every young person can thrive with the right support.  We don’t “fix behaviour” — we understand it. We don’t remove children from education — we bridge them back to it.

Our Values

Our values reflect not only what we believe, but what we have consistently delivered throughout our years of specialist work with vulnerable learners. They underpin our trauma‑informed approach and ensure that every pupil’s journey with us is purposeful, supported, and centred on long‑term success.

Compassion

We meet pupils with empathy, patience, and unconditional positive regard.

Consistency

Providing predictable routines, boundaries, and relationships that build trust

Inclusion

Every young person deserves to feel seen, valued, and part of a community.

High Expectations

Believing in each young person’s potential and holding hope on their behalf

Impact

Focusing on meaningful, measurable change that lasts beyond the placement

Collaboration

Working closely with schools, families, and multi‑agency partners to secure the best outcomes

"You were the only input that made any difference."
